Dear Subscriber

Courses are now underway for the term and we've had a fabulous response to the current program. It's not too late to enrol, so call me to discuss your options. Artdays at Art Est. start this weekend with a last minute two-for-one offer this Sunday for Landscapes in Watercolours. Call now to enrol!

We're also busy running art events and team building programs for corporate clients, so clearly the economy is buoyant and not afraid of a little election around the corner! Who knows what the outcome will be, but let's just hope the arts and education feature in the big picture.

There are some great opportunities this month with Art Est. students being invited to enter the Parklife t-Shirt design competition and Leichhardt Council's Keeping it Local photography competition. What a fantastic way to take your art to a new audience.

Enjoy the burst of sunshine, and hope to see you at Art Est. soon.

Regards

Jennifer McNamara, Director

Portrait of an Artist

Sally Mowbray studied painting in London and has had work exhibited in London and Sydney. She teaches 'Foundations of Art I & II | Landscape into Art' and is one of Art Est.'s studio artists.

What do you love about being an artist?  Making art is a necessity for me. It's a lens through which I can process other aspects of living and seeing.
What is the most challenging thing about being an artist or teaching art? Teaching is great because although I walk around thinking about it a lot, it never feels like work. My own painting is a constantly shifting challenge and this is the best part of it.
What art do you have at home? Paintings by Dominik Lejman (Poland), Martin Westwood (UK), Maya Green (Australia) and Tania Castaing (Australia).
Where is your favourite place of inspiration? Everywhere is interesting!
Who are your favourite artists? Luc Tuymans, Peter Doig, Pierre Bonnard, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Elisabeth Cummings.
